My name is Ammiel. When I first joined the LFLC’s YMAP program, I was apprehensive. I had heard of people having mentors, but didn’t grasp what exactly a mentor was. I wasn’t sure of how exactly it would work out and the ins and outs of being a mentee/mentor, which led me to be skeptical. But I believed and knew that God put me in the program for a reason, and that all I had to do was give it a shot.
What I didn’t know was how amazing of an experience it would turn out to be. From 8th to 12th grade I’ve learned much about myself and who I am as a person, as well as my strengths and weaknesses. What I’ve learned in the program through my mentor, YMAP activities, and guest speakers navigate through life. If it had not been for the support, lessons, and mentoring from ALL of the mentors, I can honestly say that I would not be where i am today –a 1st year at Xavier University. Thank you LFLC!
